Distance: Depends. If drive to spot, then 50 yards. If hike down canyon will be 1.5 miles, but would need shuttle or hike back up.
Located at 5th Bridge parking area along the Maligne Canyon trail. Great hike down if you can do a shuttle.
Directions:
From Jasper, go Northeast on hwy 16 a few miles to right turn onto Maligne Canyon Road. turn right and cross bridge, then stay left. Go until sign for 5th bridge (Or if hiking down canyon go on until upper canyon lodge area), and turn left into parking area.
To the Letterbox:
From bridge over the river, at end of parking area, and if facing the river, go left (downstream) to picnic table. Go 30 more steps on trail along river. Go left off trail for 15 yards to back of big tree. Box at base under 6 inch rock.
