Terrain Difficulty: Moderate (moderate slope, 5.4 mi RT)
Serving primarily German style lagers and ales along with a few hoppy brews, BierWerks has been a local hangout since 2010. So come try a few after finding this box on the Lovell Gulch Trail, a pleasant hike through the Pike National Forest.
Directions:
For the brewery, go to 121 E Midland Ave and park nearby. For the box, go north on Baldwin St and continue as it becomes Rampart Range Rd for about 2 miles to sign for Lovell Gulch Trail on left. Go left on gravel road a short way to parking lot on left.
Clues:
Walk on trail, following the signs at several jcts, for 0.8 mi to beginning of loop and go left (clockwise). Trail will eventually become steeper and bend to the right. At the top of a rise with Pikes Peak visible through the trees on the right, come to an old road just before trail dips down. Go right on old road about 100 yds to an unobstructed view of Pikes Peak ahead. Go right 10 steps to a pine tree with LB at back base under sticks & needles.
