Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 2.1 mile RT)
In the mid-1930s, Will Rogers was one of the most popular and highest paid actors in Hollywood and "America's most beloved citizen." From his start in vaudeville theater with a trick roping act, he rose to world-wide fame as a columnist, "cowboy philosopher", aviation enthusiast, philanthropist, radio personality, and movie star. During the 1920s, he bought land in Santa Monica, where he developed a ranch and spent time relaxing with family and friends. After his death in 1935, his widow donated the ranch to the state of California and it became a State Historic Park named in his honor. There are many activities available, including hiking the Inspiration Point Loop Trail, where this box can be found.
Directions:
From PCH go north on Chautauqua Blvd to Sunset Blvd and go right to Will Rogers State Park Rd, then left to Will Rogers SHP. Pay the parking fee and continue to lot by the Ranch House.
Clues:
Facing Ranch House, walk right to service road and go left up it to where it bends right. Go right on a dirt road between two buildings to the Inspiration Loop Trailhead. Ascend the trail up to jct with sign pointing left for Inspiration Point. Go left to the point with picnic tables and a great view. From first table on right, go right 11 steps on small path into bushes (might have to crawl the last few steps). LB is within trunks of bush on left under rocks. Please be discreet.
