This series of boxes was hidden as a start to a new yearly tradition. Well hide more each year we visit at the end of summer!
Enter the hopeville state park an follow the road down to the first stop where the road forks. Follow the sign right toward the swimming area. You will see a stone building (bathrooms) on the left and directly across a great spot to park in an open circular parking lot. Park here! (If your with littles go pee this loop is about 1.5 miles (my 4year old was ready for nap but did it on foot. And with only a few wierd spots my umbrella stroller pushed my 2 year old just fine! Family friendly path!)
Standing with the bathroom in front of you. The brown bulletin board is to the right. You will headdown the road to the left.
Walk until the road forks.
At the fork there is a brown directional sign in a garden of flowers. Under the sign you'll find box #1
Please, replace box carefully and be sure she's well hidden.
To continue to box 2 Take the fork to the right
At the intersection theres a yield sign, continue straight down the hill toward the camp.
Walk past the dump station, $20! Outrageous!
Go over the road that crosses the water and look right. The opening to the path youll need to take is all the way to the right of the stone wall.
Follow the trail in front of you, keeping the stream that goes under the road, to your right. There will be a small hill with wooden stairs.
At the next set of stairs, right after the four sister tree, there is a pile of logs to the right. Here, in between them, is where you'll find box #2
Cross the wooden bridge
Stop to look for tadpoles, frogs and fish.
Take the trail to the road. Stop at the boulders and Go right. At the next set of bolders you'll see a different wooden bridge go right over the wooden bridge
Follow the path Going right.
The path forks, go to the left.
There is a GIANT tree perfect for taking pictures! stop and snap a a few, we personally love to set up little fairy doors in this tree. From the direction you came, walking left past the giant tree you follow the path for about 50 average adult paces, to where the road intersects. Look to your right and youll see a thock large tree Directly behind it, there is a small pile of sticks. DIG!
Continue onstraight on the path as you were don't turn heading to the left.
The path leads to the canoe sites. Stop and go left.
Now is a good time to hit up those bathrooms. Directly across from the bathrooms is a telephone type pole with solar panels. There (directly to the right of the pole) is a not sooo defined entrance into a much clearer portion of woods. (Still lots of trees but little underbrush. Stop in this opening. Point one arm out directly in front of you and one arm straight to your right. If you meet your arms in the middle they should be facing a tree with a circular hole straight through it about 3ft off the ground. Maybe 25 adult paces in front of you. The base of this tree is where you will find your final box.
In order to return to your car exit the canoe site parking to the road and turn left, then take your first left and you'll be headed straight at the bathrooms you started at! Thanks for playing and see you next year!
