The Denver, South Park, and Pacific Railroad was a historic 3 ft narrow gauge railroad that operated in Colorado in the late 19th century. It opened up the first rail routes to a large section of the central Colorado mining district in the decades of the mineral boom. The railroad took its name from the fact that its main line from Denver ascended the Platte Canyon and traversed South Park, though the line never connected itself with the Pacific. You can hike part of its route through Chalk Creek Canyon on the Narrow Gauge Trail, where this box can be found.

Directions:
From Hwy 285, go west on Chalk Creek Dr (CO 162) for 9.2 miles to pullout parking on right for Cascade Falls.

Clues:
Walk across CO 162 and go right (west) along it for about 150 yds to trailhead for the Narrow Gauge Trail on left. Go on it past view of small lake below and Agnes Vaille Falls in the distance until come to creek crossing. At bridge before crossing go right 35 steps along creek to group of trees by a fork in the creek. Go right and up 15 steps to a lone pine tree at top of ridge with two dead trees at its left base. LB is where the dead trees meet under a rock & leaves.
