Distance to Letterbox: About 8 miles round trip
Box is located at Born Lake, a hike off the 4th of July Creek Trail, south of Stanley, ID. Nice hike with big views and a great lake at end.
Directions:
From Stanley, go south until you reach turn to left for FR209 (Fourth of July creek rd). Turn left and follow gravel road to the end (go slow). Park at lot at end of road.
To the Letterbox:
Take trail toward Fourth of July lake. Just before lake, turn left on trail going to pass and born lake. Climb up to the pass, and down other side. Continue on trail until you reach the inlet stream to the lake (you will see the lake to your left, with a large flat boulder at the shore which stream runs right by). Cross the stream and go 10 steps. Now go off trail to the right and uphill 10steps to clump of evergreens. Box is in middle of these under 6 inch rock.
