Troop 327 Lums Pond State Park Box – Waterview
From the south end of the eastern most parking lot pair in Area 2,
Go downhill on the path that makes an S.
First fork. People have two hands. Most people do not write with which hand? Go in that direction
Next fork. Take the one that gets you closer to the water.
Find Peter Geldof. You should follow where this pioneer of preservation is not looking i.e., behind him.
Continue along this concrete path. You were on the correct path if you see three Star Craft, the last one perched upon a Myers. (if you don’t see them they have been moved. Continue straight and go to next clue)
Take the path where motor vehicles and horses are prohibited.
Cross bridge 25 and continue.
In a couple of minutes, you’ll come to bridge 24. Cross that too.
If the hand with poison ivy were to throw a baseball 25 feet in the direction it is facing, that is where you want to go – off the path.
To your left, you will see a big tree with a thick hairy poison ivy stem running up its length. Since you don’t want to walk towards poison ivy, you want to turn in the direction opposite.
Find the log on the ground 30 steps away from where you turned. This log will have a gap in the middle.
Follow that log away from the water to where it goes under another tree on the ground.
Follow this tree to where it used to absorb its water and nutrients.
Look up! You’ll see a majestic tree still absorbing water and nutrients that’s divided into thirds just below the height of your average Brownie.
Look on this tree where it’s three trunks meet near the average height of a really short Daisy. You should find me!
Take the box and stamp the booklet inside to record you’ve been here. Each scout may also take one of the trinkets. Make sure to stamp your card with the stamp contained in the letter box. PUT THE BOX BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT.
Hope you had fun! The girls of Troop 327 – The Mighty Unicorns.
