Alive and well as of 7/7/08
PLEASE rehide it carefully and be very discreet, both when seeking and replacing.
Munden Point Municipal Park is a wonderful, family friendly park with many playgrounds, covered picnic areas and ballfields. Restroom facilities are available. This park also has access to the inland waterway via North Landing River. There is a boat ramp, plenty of parking and fishing is permitted. They even have a live bait vending machine near the office! Pets are welcome as long as you clean-up after them.
A trip to this park offers a nice ride through the countryside and farming areas of Virginia Beach and a spectacular waterway view.
Directions: Follow Princess Anne Road South about 12-15 miles (depending on your starting point). Right on Munden Point Road. Follow the BROWN signs to Munden Point Municipal Park. ***This can be a very quiet park during the week but very busy on weekends. Please be discreet and use the park with care.
Clues:
Enter the park. Take first left and park in the first lot on the left. This is just before the boat ramp. Find the information kiosk to see a map of the park. Locate and walk through the GARDENS with the large windmill.
***The windmill has lost its paddles and looks more like a lost lighthouse!
Cross the road and walk left to the Horseshoe Pit. Go to the side of the fence around the Horseshoe Pit closest to the woods. With your back to the center post, walk 32 paces just into the edge of the woods. You may or may not step over an old tree limb just at the edge of the woods. Locate 4 small pines at the edge of the woods on your right. (You have gone too far if you come to a HUGE tree.)
Between the center twins of the four pines, under a pile of sticks and bark, look for the letterbox.
PLEASE be sure to re-seal the bags carefully before you rehide the box under its "nest" of debris.
Take time to enjoy the park and the waterfront while you are here.
